Will Google Pixel 5 really be a flagship phone?
The Google Pixel 5 and Google Pixel 5 Xl will be having Snapdragon 765 and 765G.
It seems like Google changed its mind and decided to go with the mid-range chipset and not to put the flagship chipset in its next smartphone, and that’s a good move for a lot of reasons.
First of all, let’s take a look at previous Google offerings, and it seems like they are continually failing in this flagship category. It all began with the Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL, and these devices were not able to grasp the market share as Google would have thought and this led them to introduce more budget-friendly devices like Pixel 3A and 3A XL. These devices from Google managed to grab much more attention than its flagship devices. Pixel devices had an advantage in terms of the camera department. The important thing that Google missed here is that the pricing. Google launched these devices with bigger price tags, which took away all the attention.
Again, the same thing happened with Pixel 4 and 4 XL; the phones had pretty solid hardware, but the pricing was the pressing issue.
It wasn’t good at all for Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL; although the phone had all the flagship-level specs, later on, Google had to change its pricing as well to lure the buyers. The Pixel phones performed well in the camera department and regular software updates even though they didn’t have multiple cameras like other smartphone makers. On the other hand, the Chinese OEMs are doing well with their phones; take OnePlus for the example; they’re using Google’s Software and making their device better than Google’s own devices. Look at the stats if you want.
Pixel phones had a lot of backlash due to the small size of their batteries, and we hope that Google increases the battery capacity with faster-charging technology.
This might be the cause of why google is going with the mid-range chipset instead of going with the top of the line.
What are the features of Google Pixel 5 and 5XL?
We think that Google is trying to reach the majority of the consumers, and it will help them to grow, and people will get a chance to taste the Google’s software ecosystem. Google’s software ecosystem is incredible, and people should use it. Now you might be thinking that Samsung, Xiaomi, and other OEMs support Google’s Operating System. Software with these phones is not stock. The software experience here is customized, so the device becomes bloated with unnecessary apps, and that makes the phone sluggish. The Googles stock android OS works flawlessly.
There are no rumors regarding the display, but Google might add a QHD panel with a 90Hz refresh rate for a smoother response. The Pixel 4XL had a QHD display, and the Pixel 4 came up with Full-HD resolution. Although other smartphone manufacturers are shifting towards 120Hz screen, Google might want to stick with the 90Hz for the Pixel 5.
In terms of the new google pixel phone and its chipset, Google has taken the right decision to go with the mid-range chipset, and this could change the stats for Google.
The rumored chipset that Google is set to use in its upcoming smartphone is Snapdragon 765G, which is capable enough to handle day to day tasks. This Snapdragon 765G has integrated 5G modem, and unlike the Snapdragon 865, which doesn’t have the built-in 5G modem and the OEM’s have to buy it separately which will increase the costing for the phone.
The X55 5G modem can deliver speeds up to 7GBPS, and with this advanced 5G modem, the user can decide whether to include millimeter-wave or not. The flaws that this modem has are that it takes more space, power, and it is expensive to produce.
The Snapdragon 765 has a built-in modem X52, which is slightly slower than X55 and can provide 3.7GBPS 5G speed. Snapdragon 765 offers a cheaper solution for smartphones, and it comes with two options.
Snapdragon 765 and Snapdragon 765G, and here G stands for gaming. The Snapdragon 765G is 10% faster in terms of gaming than the non-G version. With the help of 765G, the Pixel phone would be cheaper and will have better battery life. This chip with the Google software experience will help this phone to perform well in all categories, mainly- Gaming, Camera. Snapdragon 765G might not be the top of the line chipset for 2020, but it’ll get the job done because it has added benefit of Google’s Software.
Although there are no rumors regarding the actual battery capacity, if we look at the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL, the 2800 mAh small battery of Pixel 4 lasted only for 8 hours and 3 minutes. On the other hand, the Pixel 4XL performed better thanks to the larger 3700 mAh with 9 hours and 42 minutes. Still, that’s not enough for the phone like Pixel, and we believe that Google will put a larger battery this time.
The Pixel 5 will come with wireless charging, and it would be called Battery Sharing and would be compatible with watches, earbuds, and other wireless devices.
What makes the Google Pixel’s camera so amazing?
Pixel 4 performed very well under the camera department, and noticeable thing here is that Pixel 4 didn’t have a wide-angle lens. The leaks suggest that there will three-camera setup on the back of the phone, and we are hoping that Google will be adding a wide-angle lens in Pixel 5.
Google might add an ultra-wide lens, and most flagships are adding to their phones these days. It seems that Google is falling behind to follow the trend, and this time Google might add an ultra-wide lens to the Pixel 5 and Pixel 5XL.
Recently Google released the Android 11 developer preview, and we are hoping that the upcoming Pixel devices might come with the Android 11 out of the box. Google will be adding a lot more changes to the Android 11. The Android 11 comes with features like Improved notification shade, Screen recorder, Auto dark mode, Scrolling screenshots, and better 5G support.
Google will be launching two phones, one with the standard size and one with the XL version. Google codenamed these devices as Bramble and Redfin. Bramble for the Pixel 5 and Redfin for Pixel 5XL.
What will be the price of Google Pixel 5 and Google Pixel 5 XL?
Google is learning from its past mistakes, and it’s good to see that Google is implementing new strategies. Mistakes like a small battery, limited internal storage, and negligence for the wide-angle lens. Google is known for its Software and camera performance, and the thing which lacks is better battery support, and we are hoping that Google will provide a larger battery in their upcoming phones. Let’s talk about the pricing, people these days are not willing to spend a lot of money on the high-end flagships, and no one actually needs a phone with 108MP camera sensor.
The rumor suggests that it will cost around $349 for 128GB of storage. Google might launch Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 5XL somewhere in October 2020. A leak from a French-language Google blog post claims the Pixel 5 will be available for pre-order on October 8.
OnePlus will be launching its much-awaited mid-range phone Oneplus Z and it will be competing with Google Pixel 5 and Google Pixel 5 XL. If Google Pixel 5 helps to provide better camera and battery performance, then it might become a hit for Google. Most importantly, if Google manages to price these devices between $600 to $800 at these prices, the Pixel will stand out if you compare it with the $1000 flagships.
