Motorola Razr 2019

Motorola Razr 2019 – Perfect phone with a bendable display?

Motorola Razr 2019 is one of a kind folding phone and it is about to launch in India on 19th March 2020.

After seeing Samsung galaxy fold going down with its poor design and build quality, we were hoping to see something more robust out of the box, which will eliminate all the flaws that Samsung Galaxy Fold had.

Samsung galaxy fold had lots of backlashes; that’s why the company had to call back its entire review devices and design new solutions for it.

Even after that, Samsung wasn’t able to manage the damage that had already done. Galaxy Fold was built superbly,  but there were some problems with the phone, and that led towards the failure. We were able to see the crease where the phone would bend. Some reviewers did the sand test with the phone, and the sand went inside the phone even after being redesigned.

We would like to give 8 / 10 as far as the design goes because the Motorola Razr is the well-built phone. Motorola managed to design it very well.

So, the point is, did we learn anything from the mistakes of Galaxy fold let’s check it out.

We will cover those aspects of the phone as well, but the critical point here is the design, how well the hinge works, and is there any noticeable crease where the display would bend? Let’s see!

There’s a secondary display as well on the outside with 2.7-inch 800 x 600 G-OLED display (called as quick view display). The hinge design is excellent, and it took Motorola 4 years to design this hinge.

Motorola went ahead with 26 different prototypes to create this portable and pocketable design.

Due to this advance design, there’s no crease on display, but there are still gaps on the sides which makes this device a bit delicate. When you close the device, you can see the display being tucked into the chin to remove the crease.

Fingerprint scanner rest on top of the chin, at the bottom there’s USB type C port. Unfortunately, there’s no room for the headphone jack.

The phone has a notch at the top, and that notch consists of the earpiece and front-facing sensors, but there’s no place for the front-facing camera.

There is only one camera on the phone to perform primary and selfie camera. This phone has 16 MP, f/1.7 main camera without optical image stabilization.

The camera is placed at the top of the device when you open the phone it becomes the rear-facing camera, fold it shut it becomes selfie camera. You can take high-quality selfies with the primary sensor.

The main camera packs feature like Dual-LED dual-tone flash, HDR, panorama, portrait.

The small secondary display is useful for taking selfies, and it can show things like time, notifications, text messages and you can call google assistant through it.

There are exciting features like Moto Gestures. Shake it twice, and it will enable the flashlight, and if you twist it two times, it opens the front-facing camera.

The phone manages to be in the upper mid-range category and comes with the Snapdragon 710 SOC and has 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. Motorola claims that this device is splash-proof, but there’s no official IP rating.

The battery is Non-removable Li-Po 2510 mAh and its divided into two portions top and bottom of the phone, but this is a small battery for the 6.2-inch device.

The phone comes with the Snapdragon 710 SOC, and for the price point, they should have used Snapdragon 855.

The company will be selling Motorola Razr at $1499/- and In India, Motorola Razr is priced at ₹1,24,999/-
