Common Poco X3 Problems – Budget Gaming Phone?

It has been more than 2 months that I’m using Poco X3 and I’m facing one of Poco X3 problems which includes battery drain and it drains a bit faster than it should.

The main problem with MIUI is bloatware and advertisements which pop up everywhere in the UI and it’s truly annoying.

MIUI 12.5 Poco X3

If you’re planning to buy the Poco X3 then this article will definitely help you. There are some Poco x3 problems that I wanted to address in this article.

Poco X3 Design

Let’s start with the design and build quality and a lot of people are unhappy about the camera design.

There are no such defects in the Poco X3 but the back panel which is made out of plastic seems to have some issues.

The back panel can be pressed if you apply pressure which is not a good thing and this is one of the Poco x3 problems.

Most importantly the branding of the phone is a bit large and you don’t really need such bigger fonts only for four letters.

People like to flaunt their devices which are from well-known brands but this isn’t the case with the Poco phone.

I personally feel like people are not going to use this phone as the style statement.

The last generation Poco phone had a glass panel on its back whereas this one comes with a plastic back. The plastic on the back of Poco X3 catches lots of fingerprints.

On the front side of the phone, there is a Gorilla Glass 5 protection which is very good but in terms of design, this phone is a downgrade from the last one.

The Poco X3 weighs 225 grams which is again heavier compared to its competition and if you’re someone who has smaller hands then this device might make you feel a little uncomfortable.

The most important factor of this phone is it comes with a bigger battery which is 5160 mAh and it has a 33W charger which charges the phone 0 to 90% in just one hour.

Poco X3 problems with a 120Hz refresh rate

The Poco X3 comes with a 120Hz refresh rate which is very impressive under this price point and the overall display quality is very nice on this device.

To deliver a better user experience with the 120Hz refresh rate you need to have optimized software and Poco X3 with its MIUI 12 update manages to keep it well managed.

You don’t see any issues with the Poco x3 120Hz refresh rate, like stutters or lag while scrolling through your app gallery or Instagram feed.

The Poco X3 has an LCD panel and it is very good in terms of media consumption. The brightness helps you to enjoy the media outdoors as well.

Poco X3 MIUI Dialer and Messenger app problem

Poco X3 dialer problem

Poco X3 doesn’t come with the stock dialer application and it comes with a Google dialer application, which is a bit confusing to use.

The same goes for the messaging application and it also comes with a Google messaging application.

Instead, they should have removed the bloatware which eats up the ram in the background.

The stock dialer and messaging applications were so good and easy to use but the Google Messaging and dialer applications are a bit confusing to use.

The Google dialer app comes with the call recording functionality and it will make you feel better if you’re thinking about the call recording functionality.

Although Google’s dialer and messaging app need a huge upgrade.

The Poco X3 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G chipset and it performs very well with your day to day activities.

I personally think with the software updates the performance of Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G can be improved.

The Poco X3 camera will bring some improvements and that too because of the Snapdragon 732G and its AI features.

Poco X3 Camera Samples

The primary sensor on the Poco X3 has Sony IMX 682 and the most important thing is that this device has the latest sensor in comparison with Oneplus Nord and Oneplus 8.

Oneplus Nord and Oneplus 8 comes with the IMX 586 sensor which is an older one.

The Poco X3 camera provides better photos and the color reproduction is much more natural as compared to Oneplus Nord.

The Selfie camera with the 20MP sensor gives beautiful images as well. The dynamic range is also very nice on the Poco X3.

Poco X3 stereo speaker problems

The stereo speaker setup is pretty loud on the Poco X3 and the sound quality is very good.

There is one problem with the speaker of the Poco X3 and that is when you hold the device and play some songs the entire phone vibrates and I feel that this can be fixed with a software update.

How to remove ads on Poco X3

The Poco x3 problems mainly occur due to the software and it can be fixed to make it even smoother and responsive.

There are no in-app ads that you commonly encounter on any Chinese phone and that too because ads help Chinese companies to keep the price down of these smartphones.

There will be some preinstalled applications and that can bother you if you don’t like the constant notifications hitting on your screen.

You can simply turn off these notifications by going into the setting and you can turn it off.

Poco X3 pros and cons

ProsCons
Price MIUI 12
Display Design
Camera Weight
6000mAh Battery Plastic Build
Fast Charging
Stereo Speakers
  • Price is the biggest factor for the Poco X3 and it starts at ₹ 16,999 (US $275) and that is for 6GB RAM and 64GB Storage.
  • The MIUI 12 is not optimized and it feels heavy compared to other versions of Android like Samsung’s One UI.
  • This Poco phone has a plastic build and metal frame on the sides with an embedded fingerprint sensor. The large Poco logo doesn’t look good.
  • The fingerprint scanner is slower than the Poco X2. The Poco X2 unlocks faster as compared to the Poco X3 and this too can be fixed with the software update.
  • This is one of a kind smartphone in its category that provides a 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate.
  • The quad-camera setup is good for taking photos as well as recording 4K videos at 30fps. The 20MP front-facing sensor is useful for 1080p video recording and exceptional selfies.
  • The battery lasts for 2 days with a single charge. The 33W fast charging is also available which can be charged 0 to 50% in 30 minutes.

This phone packs a lot of features but there are some problems that come with the Poco X3 that you must know before buying it.

The camera performance is decent as far as the pricing goes but it’s not very bad as well.

The Poco x3 defects are so minor that you won’t even notice them, as far as the back panel defect goes you can put a case on it that will solve your problem.

If you like playing games like PUBG and COD then you might like this phone because of its faster refresh rate and bigger battery which charges very quickly.

For a budget gamer, this phone will be a delight but my biggest concern is the MIUI 12.

MIUI 12 is unoptimized and slows down the phone, I hope Poco will solve this issue with OTA updates.

Is it worth buying Poco x3?

There is one thing that you should consider before buying this phone and that is, there are considerable stutters and lags on Poco X3 while playing games.

You can feel the heating issue on the back of the phone.

Due to the heating, you may encounter some lags during the gameplay. There is certainly a need for better software optimization.

  • The Poco X3 comes with the IP53 rating which means it is splash-proof and gives enough dust protection but not completely waterproof.
  • The WideVine L1 certification gives you the ability to watch movies on Netflix in full HD resolution.

Poco X3 is priced at ₹ 16,999(US $275) and it packs a lot of amazing features, again I’ll tell you that if you like playing games and you don’t have a higher budget to buy flagship devices like Oneplus and Apple then this might make you feel happy and cover all your needs/

Poco x3 defects and problems are so minor that they go unnoticed and as far as the software bugs go that can be fixed with software updates.

The better but not perfect quad-camera setup, 120Hz refresh rate, and 240Hz touch sampling rate, Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G, 5,160 mAh battery, 3.5mm Headphone jack and to put this all together it comes with ₹ 16,999 (US $275) price tag and this is a one of a kind deal.

Display 8 / 10
Camera 8 / 10
MIUI 12 7 / 10
Gaming 8 / 10
Battery 9 / 10
Is Poco x3 is a good phone?

Poco X3 is a good device considering its pricing but there are some minor problems that I feel can be fixed with the software updates.

If you still willing to buy the Poco X3 then these are the reasons to consider buying the Poco X3.
1. Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G Octa-core processor
2
. Adreno 618 GPU
3.
6.67 Inches IPS LCD display, with 120Hz Refresh Rate.
4
. 4th Generation Qualcomm AI engine

Are there any bugs in Poco x3?

The MIUI 12 needs a complete redesign and there are bugs here and there which annoys you while using the phone.

The 120Hz display doesn’t work properly and you can feel sudden stutters while scrolling through apps or using the swipe feature on the keyboard.

You will encounter some lags during the gameplay as well but it can be fixed with the software updates.

What do you think?
