Poco M3 Design
Lets start with the design first…
With the huge POCO branding on the back, Poco is trying to grab the attention of the young generation.
I personally don’t like the design of the logo.
Poco M3 comes with a plastic build and it is a textured plastic surface that feels like leather. The textured back is not going to grab any fingerprints.
The plastic back doesn’t seem to get any scratches and is very good at keeping them away.
There are three colors available yellow and blue if you don’t want the black one.
The front display is covered with the Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
Definitely, Poco M3 is a budget-friendly device, and someone who does not care about the specs and performance those people can buy this phone.
Problems With MIUI 12.
Snapdragon 662 and 4GB RAM works well with android 10 and MIUI 12.
Some problems can be solved with the software updates and this put this phone in comparison with Redmi 9 and Nokia 5.3 and other cheap phones from 2020.
Poco m3 problems mainly occur due to poor software and hardware optimization. The Poco M3 lags when you play demanding games like PUBG.
You can definitely play some casual games on this device.
Poco M3 comes with the MIUI 12 and few tweaks from Poco itself. The MIUI 12 offers impressive features on top of Android 10.
The MIUI 12 is filled with software tweaks that take processor resources which make this phone slower. This is the reason why Poco M3 feels laggy.
On Top Of The MIUI 12, There Are Some Cool Optimizations.
- You get the grid layout for the gaming mode video toolbox, which allows you to stream YouTube videos when the phone is hibernating.
- In comparison with other Xiaomi devices, this phone comes with less bloatware.
- The ads are there to annoy you, but you can skip them. The following video will help you to get rid of those ads.
Poco M3 Issues With The Camera.
The camera specifications sound very good on paper but in real-life scenarios, the camera fails miserably.
The number of megapixels are there for just a marketing selling point.
There are so many smartphones available in the market that uses a lower megapixel sensor but produce better picture quality.
You will get fine photos only in proper lighting situations.
The camera doesn’t like the white lighting either, and the images look soft. The color balance is not good either.
The video from the primary camera also looks good but it struggles in low light situations.
Selfie from the front camera looks fine, don’t expect anything special.
There are some special modes like AI skyscraping, color focus, and movie frame.
I would recommend you not to look at the camera specs for buying this phone.
Poco M3: Pros And Cons
Things To Consider Before Buying Poco M3.
How many great things you can put into the $150 phone and it is a really tight budget.
On top of that, you get Snapdragon 662 and it is a powerful processor and it will get you through your daily tasks. Poco M3 lag is there but its negligible.
The Poco M3 is a good package for social media, light gaming and you get all-day battery life.
You can get more out of battery if you’re not playing games or consuming media all day.
With this big 6000 mAh battery, the Poco M3 weighs just 198 grams. Poco M3 problems are so minor that can it be fixed with software updates.
Poco M3 is not designed for the US market.
If you’re planning to buy this phone in the US you can use it unlocked with T-mobile or GSM networks like AT&T, Cricket Mobile, Metro by T-mobile.
You’re going to be limited in different coverage areas and there are no new LTE bands, 5G or band 71. These are Poco M3 issues that you should look into before buying this Poco phone.
Is It Worth Buying Poco M3?
The display on Poco M3 is really amazing with a 6.53-inch FHD resolution.
The display panel is not AMOLED so the contrast and viewing angles are not that great.
It’s a nice size for watching movies and scrolling through social media.
Poco M3 is a very good phone for young people or people who don’t spend lots of money on their mobile phones.
Poco M3 lag occurs while playing demanding games like PUBG and COD although you can play light games on this device.
There are no as such Poco M3 issues if you’re a normal user. If you’re someone who like to play games a lot on their devices then this is not the phone you’re looking for.
This is the only phone to support the 48MP primary sensor in this price range but it’s not that good. Apart from the poor camera performance, there is nothing to complain about.
